Co-designing and Commoning, a workshop at Nordes 2015
Date: Tuesday 9th of June 2015
Place: Konstfack, University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, LM Ericssons väg 14, Stockholm, Sweden (Subway station: Telefonplan)
Organisers: Andrea Botero (Aalto University), Sanna Marttila (Aalto University), Frederik Van Amstel (University of Twente), Anna Seravalli (Mälmö University), Joanna Saad-Sulonen (Aarhus University)
Explore the commons as an objective and commoning as a way of doing and being for design activities. The full workshop description is available here [PDF].
Case presentations, discussion, and hands-on mapping
Pre-task: Send a case description of 1 page emphasising how/why it is relevant to the theme of co-design and commoning. Please send your pre-tasks in PDF format to codesigncommoning(at)gmail.com by the 5th of June 2015.
We will make use of these cases to work on the following questions during the workshop:
• How can we design better infrastructures and frameworks that enable, mediate and foster the emerging and increasingly complex communing practices?
• What new design principles and practices are needed to contribute to, sustain, foster and co- design commons?
• How to articulate –long lived and open ended – collaborative practices that rely on sharing resources, and produce also collective outcomes?
We will have room for 20 people. We will send you a confirmation letter that you may attend the workshop once we receive your pre-task (but do register for it in any case on the conference Doodle). On the workshop day, be prepared to give a 5-10 minutes presentation of your case / example. You won’t use slides but we will project your position paper submission while you present, so be sure to include any visuals you might need in it.
